- Take pictures at right resolution – Before taking pictures, make sure that the batteries are freshly charged. Turn on the camera by pressing the power button and set the mode selector. This mode can allow the user to shot single images and be created in jpeg format. JPEG is the most common standard used in compressing photographic images and the file format which utilizes this compression has the extensions .jpeg, .JPG, .JPE or .jpg. Camera resolution must be set to VGA 480×640 resolution, it offers the optimum and most desirable size for exporting these images to a webpage, email file or a PowerPoint presentation. Have your pictures framed using the view finder and press the Shutter button that is commonly located on the top of the camera. The action will save the image being taken in the memory stick of the camera in JPEG format. Switch the mode selector button to the icon that looks like a box with an arrow in its middle to view your pictures. The left and right arrow buttons are used to view the images you have taken.
- Using a USB cable, connect the camera to a computer – Familiar yourself with the USB cable, the jack type and the connection method that is used for your digital camera. The USB cable must be inserted, by attaching the small plug in another end of the USB cable into the camera jack and the other end of the USB cable into the port of the computer that is being utilized to export the images.
- View Images – As soon as the camera had been attached to the computer, turn on the camera and the windows screen will open a pop up message. No installer is needed if you are using the Windows XP version or higher. Choose the option “Open folder to view files” command by clicking the command. Then, windows will provide an image viewer that can display all the images that are stored on the memory stick of the digital camera. It is recommended that you transfer these images to a different folder in your computer to further extend the battery life of the digital camera. To transfer, select the images and drag it off the window to a folder you wished to transfer the images. If you desire to delete images on the digital camera, delete it in this mode to avoid the hassle in deleting them in your camera one by one. Shut off the camera to conserve the power and remove the USB cable from the computer. To view valuable information of the file, right click the picture and you will find the date created, size and the type of file. This information will aid the web developers to monitor the file size during the development process of the webpage.
- Edit your images – find a software the will edit your images or you can utilize the Microsoft Office Picture Manager that is default in any operating system of Windows. Picture size and other information can be modified.
